02.05.2023Is it really pretentious to give the player a heads-up for what is to come, so they don't expect 'traditional' gameplay? Or is the concept of theatre in itself pretentious for some gamers? I genuinely believe that this kind of ingrained anti-intellectualism in the culture is what keeps video games from being perceived as art by a wider (especially non-gaming) audience. Sorry, I just can't help myself, but I genuinely feel this way about video gaming culture and art. They just don't feel like they want to coexist. The comment in the video was just a symptom of this sentiment to me, not a root or anything big really.
